Um, this is the Blaze and Access podcast disability news and perspective for Tuesday, November 14. I'm Blaze Bryant. The US Department of Labor is holding their final stakeholder session to hear from the public About Section 14 B. Now this is an issue we've talked about on the show about a month ago or so, where President FDR back in 1938 signed 14 C, which is a section of the labor law allowing people with disabilities to get paid less than people with nondisabilities. There is some discussion about getting rid of this antiquated, discriminatory practice, which frankly, in the view of this host, cannot happen soon enough. I frankly don't understand why there are parents of people with disabilities who support 14 C. The narrative I've heard from those who have heard arguments from parents is, well, it makes our lives easier because there aren't so many day programs, yada, yada, yada. But what you're doing is essentially saying it's okay that my child gets paid less. They're viewed by societies less than to me, that ain't right. The link to register for the final listening session, which is tomorrow, November 15, from 530 to seven, is in the show. Notes. What do you think? Let me know.
