Blaisin' Access 19 Service Animals in the Workplace

Blaisin' Access Podcast

Listen here

This is The Blaze and access podcast for Monday, October 16. I'm blaise bryant. I just read a very interesting story. The University of Arkansas Office of Accessibility and Accommodations, they are hosting a collaborative webinar with the Job Accommodation Network, or Jan J-A-N. They are going to focus on service animals and emotional support animals in the workplace. This is, of course, because of National Disability Employment Awareness Month. The webinar is happening Tuesday, October 17. It says in the news story 1030, which I'm gathering is Central Time. So that would be 1130 Eastern, 930 Mountain, 830 Pacific, so on and so forth. This is a very interesting topic, one that I am personally interested in as someone who has a seeing eye dog, because let's face it, the line is oftentimes so blurred between what is a service animal and an emotional support animal. And the reason why it's so blurred is because people have, for whatever reason, tried to cast their animals as service animals, when that's clearly not the case. It's why legitimate service animal handlers need to fill out this form just to fly. We never had to do this crap before, but now we do because of emotional support peacocks and other blatant cases of fake service animals. So yet again, disabled people paying the price for other people's. Just frank stupidity. So. 1130 Eastern. 1030 Central. The webinar with the job accommodation network and the University at Arkansas. The link to the release is in the show notes, and within the story is the link to register for the webinar. I'm going to register in hopes of getting a recording of it, because I probably won't be able to listen to it, but that's what I'm doing. And if you're not able to make the webinar, I hope you do that as well. What do you think? Send me a note blazingshows@gmail.com that's Blaisin shows@gmail.com.
